MIKE GARRETT
Managing Director and Principal Tutor
Mike has been immersed in the field of personal development since the early 1970s, training extensively across a wide range of therapeutic disciplines.
He is a certified Master Practitioner of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy (UK & USA), and holds diplomas in Psychology and Stress Management. Mike also holds a certificate in Rational-Emotive Therapy from the RET Institute in New York, and is a Royal Society of Arts-qualified NVQ Assessor in psychotherapy and hypnotherapy training.
Over the years, Mike has contributed to professional publications including the European Journal of Clinical Hypnosis, and has served as a consultant to organisations such as the BBC (TV and Radio), the Police, and the Consumers Association. He was a consultant to the West Mercia Police during the Frank Beck Inquiry into abuse in children’s homes, and has lectured on hypnosis and related subjects for Portsmouth University School of Health Studies, Southampton University School of Medicine, and the Royal Defence Medical College. For several years, he also served as an external examiner for the Hypnotherapy Diploma Course at Sheffield Hallam University.
Mike has held leadership roles within several professional bodies, including Chairman of the Association of Hypnotherapy Organisations, Vice-Chairman of the Association of Professional Therapists, Vice-Chairman of the British Association of Therapeutical Hypnotists, and executive committee member of the British Complementary Medicine Association.
As PSI’s principal tutor, Mike brings a structured, engaging teaching style that blends clarity with humour. His courses reflect decades of experience and a deep commitment to practitioner development.

NICKI PINKNEY
Business Manager and Assistant Tutor
Nicki is an accredited Senior Hypnotherapy Practitioner with the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) and a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), under the name Nicolette Pinkney.
She began her training with the Psycho-Semantics Institute (PSI Training) in 2009, earning a Diploma in Hypno-Psychotherapy. Since then, she has qualified as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and is also a certified EMDR practitioner. She has undertaken additional training across a range of integrative therapeutic approaches.
She went on to establish her private practice, Inspiring Changes, and currently runs a thriving full-time clinic near Salisbury. In recognition of her depth of experience and commitment to the field, she holds the Senior Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice (SQHP) and is registered as a Senior Practitioner.
Nicki’s work has been featured in the Health & Wellbeing sections of Prima and Good Housekeeping magazines, and she has appeared on UK Talk Radio to share insights into therapeutic practice.
Alongside her clinical work, Nicki plays a key role in PSI’s training programmes. She co-ordinates the workshops, supports students throughout their learning journey, and co-authors the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses. She also manages key administrative aspects of the training platform, helping to ensure smooth operations and a welcoming, well-organised learning environment. Nicki also assists Mike in delivering the Practitioner Diploma and advanced CPD workshops. Specialist tutors may also contribute to specific modules.
