ANXIETY & STRESS MANAGEMENT

What’s Included:

Anxiety and stress are among the most common issues clients bring to therapy, yet they present in highly individual ways across physiology, cognition, behaviour and emotion. This CPD Masterclass gives practitioners a clear, structured understanding of anxiety and stress, and teaches you how to work safely, effectively and confidently with clients experiencing overwhelm, worry, tension or panic. You’ll learn how to identify triggers, interrupt maintaining cycles, regulate the nervous system and use hypnotherapeutic interventions to restore calm, clarity and control.

You’ll explore:

  • Understanding anxiety and stress
Definitions, distinctions and how both conditions manifest across mind and body.

  • The stress response system
Fight‑flight‑freeze, autonomic activation, cortisol cycles and the physiology of overwhelm.

  • Types of anxiety
Generalised anxiety, social anxiety, panic, phobias, health anxiety and situational stress.

  • Cognitive patterns
Catastrophising, overthinking, rumination, intrusive thoughts and anticipatory fear.

  • Behavioural responses
Avoidance, safety behaviours, reassurance‑seeking and patterns that maintain anxiety.

  • Emotional components
Fear, shame, irritability, frustration and emotional overload.

  • Triggers and maintaining factors
Stressors, learned associations, lifestyle influences, trauma history and environmental pressures.

  • The anxiety loop
How thoughts, sensations and behaviours reinforce each other — and how to break the cycle.

  • Assessment and risk awareness
Identifying severity, red flags, co‑occurring issues and when to refer.

  • Nervous system regulation
Grounding, breathwork, somatic calming and sensory‑based interventions.

  • Hypnotherapeutic interventions
Techniques for reducing physiological arousal, reframing thoughts, building confidence and restoring control.

  • Cognitive and behavioural strategies
Challenging distortions, reducing avoidance, building tolerance and supporting behavioural activation.

  • Lifestyle and supportive approaches
Sleep, pacing, movement, boundaries, stress reduction and habits that complement hypnotherapy.

  • Working with panic
Understanding panic physiology, interrupting escalation and building resilience.

  • Working with chronic stress
Supporting clients with long‑term overload, burnout or cumulative strain.

  • Building resilience and self‑efficacy
Helping clients develop confidence, coping skills and a sense of internal stability.

  • Case studies
Realistic examples illustrating presentations, therapeutic pacing and hypnotherapeutic outcomes.
